BOBBY VATS AND MADHAVAN TO PLAY RIVAL COACHES IN BOMBAY HIGH
After Shah Rukh Khan in Shimit Amin’s ‘Chak De India’, looks like Bollywood is going to be smitten by films
which have their leading men playing the game of soccer with aplomb. The latest news in film circles is that UTV will soon
start shooting the film ‘ Bombay High’ with the young and talented Nupur Asthana as the director. The film will
incorporate the fun sport soccer in the true sportsman’s spirit. Madhavan and Bobby Vats play the roles of professional
rival coaches. Bobby Vats who is also acting in a children’s film ‘Detective Nani’ directed by Romilla Mukherjee
and Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Halla Bol’ alongside Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan is quite excited about his role
in ‘Bombay High’, which he feels will prove to be yet another turning point in his career. Bobby says excitedly,”
It is always fun to be part of a sporty film as it will be an exciting experience for me and hopefully for the spectators
too. Besides the leading man, other details including the actress who is going to play the leading lady is yet to be finalized”.
Bobby has several TV serials and movies to his credit, the latest being ‘Ravan’ on air on Zee TV in which he is
essaying the role of Lord Indra and ‘Kashmakash Zindagi Ki’ on the national network of Doordarshan.
Actor Bobby Vats who plays a 'scene-stealing hero' in the Ajay Devgan starrer 'Halla Bol' (directed by Rajkumar Santoshi)
refused the role of Lord Shiva in Raavana' (Zee).
He preferred to play Lord Indra instead. "I felt Lord Indra's role had contrasting shades. Besides being a passionate lover
of art, music and culture, Indra is a shrewd warrior who takes on the might of Raavana," justifies Bobby.
What is his take on the seductive dance number that Menaka performs in his durbar in the show 'Raavana'?Bobby justifies, "It's
a slice of mythology. It's not a raunchy number but a sensuous and a classical performance. Lord Indra is a lover of arts."
Incidentally, Bobby was also singled out by Hema Malini to play the role of Yudisthir in her ballet 'Draupadi', which was
staged in India and abroad.
Bobby also plays the sutradhaar in the English play neither 'Neither Full nor Three-fourth' adapted from Gulzar's 'Addha'
(The Dwarf). Currently, Bobby is playing the publisher in 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' (Star Plus) and is cast as a fashion photographer
in the upcoming serial 'Kasme Vaade'.
"I groom a deaf-mute girl (Chaaru Wadhwa) into a top model," reveals Bobby who has Mukul Dev and Vikas Bhalla as his co-stars.
